The Grounds – The Forks
New in 2019, check out IDL’s first-ever fiddle competition at The Forks in Winnipeg!
Competitors will be split into two age categories: 15 and under, and 16 plus. The competition follows the Métis-Style Class, which requires fiddlers to play two tunes, unaccompanied and while sitting down.
We are only accepting 30 contestants per category, so be sure to pre-register and save your spot!

15 and under
- 1st Place $75
- 2nd Place $55
- 3rd Place $35
16 and over
- 1st Place $150
- 2nd Place $75
- 3rd Place $50
Rules & Regulations
- All contestants must be registered in person prior to 5 p.m. on competition day (Saturday, June 22)
- Only registered contestants will be allowed to participate
- Each contestant must play 2 tunes in Métis-style class while seated
- The contestant must have his or her own instrument
- Only one entry per contestant
- Coordinators will draw for order of participation
- Judges’ decisions will be final
- All other rules of the MFA (Manitoba Fiddle Association) apply
- Free admission for contestants
